GAINA & Kodai Nozaki vs. Genkai & HUB (Kyushu Pro, 07/30/2017)
For our very first match review on KENKA I used a match which got pitched to me from a good friend on the bird app. I'm honest I had no idea this match existed nor that it was this good. I watched it before and now I watched it a second time to do the review here. We're going to the island of Kyushu, more precisely to Kyushu Pro Wrestling.
WATCH IT HERE
Kodai Nozaki and GAINA are teaming up together to take on the Kyushu Pro Tag Team Champions Genkai and HUB, who are the inaugral titleholder. Nozaki was only wrestling for ten months into his career and still aiming for his very first gold opportunity.
The match started with a slap by Nozaki to Genkai, which showed the real emotion involved in this fight from the beginning. And thus the main story of the fight was introduced with a bang to the fans. Nozaki constantly throwing bombs at Genkai was so awesome, he did not back down and came over like a real brick wall. When Nozaki stood tall after the first minutes of fighting with Genkai, the crowd made some noise. But Genkai quickly stood on his feet again and showed some nasty strikes before HUB and GAINA came into the ring.
And yes the encounter between these two were overshadowed by the stuff Nozaki and Genkai had in this time, nevertheless it was still good stuff. When Genkai got tagged in again, he chopped Nozaki like crazy and asked Nozaki to slap him harder than he could. Genkai took no prisoners and came across like a japanese video game final boss here.
Genkai was a mean bug, torturing Nozaki as best as he could with strikes, slaps, chokes and other moves. But our young gun was like no other, he came back and turned the tables around when he suplexed Genkai to get the hot tag to GAINA.
There was an incredible sequence where Nozaki put Genkai in a torture rack, but Genkai turned it around to a sleeper and vice versa. The finishing sequence was tremendous when all four got into the ring, hit some sick strikes and everyone layed down in the ring. Genkai's hurrincanrana put GAINA out of the ring while the same move was intercepted by Nozaki with a powerbomb.
Nozaki kicked out of a suplex from the very top rope, GAINA rescued him after a pedigree but got put out of the match with a suicide dive while Genkai finally beat Nozaki after a brainbuster. Incredible stuff! This was so much fun, had a good pace and a really cool story with Nozaki desperately wanted to beat Genkai. **** 1/4
